During Women’s Health Month, women should be encouraged to prioritize their health by making sure to get routine checkups, including an annual mammogram. Emily Bolin, a mammography technologist with Northwest Radiology, talked with WISH-TV’s Lakyn McGee about reducing your risk of breast cancer, how to do a self-exam and the basics of getting a mammogram.

Northwest Radiology Network is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient imaging center in Avon. Located at 120 Avon Marketplace St., Suite 110, in Avon, the imaging center offers both computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services. The imaging center is in the same building as Urology of Indiana and Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine.
“We are looking forward to providing imaging care to the growing community of Avon and surrounding areas,” said Northwest Radiology Executive Director and CFO Linda Wilgus, CPA, MBA.
The Avon outpatient imaging center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both physicians and patients have access to images and results through an online portal.
“We also offer patients transparent, upfront pricing,” Wilgus said. “Patients know the cost before their procedure.”
Northwest Radiology Network welcomes Jay Wigboldy, M.D., who is subspecialized in body imaging radiology.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, Dr. Wigboldy received his Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., and he served as section chief of musculoskeletal radiology in support of the John A. Feagin Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Trauma Fellowship at West Point, N.Y.
He most recently served as a partner at Central Illinois Radiology Associates, LLC in Springfield, Ill., and a chief of abdominal imaging at Madigan Army Medical Center.
Dr. Wigboldy is certified by and a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the Radiological Society of North America and American Roentgen Ray Society.
He has authored publications on topics including a computer tomography scan versus upper gastrointestinal fluoroscopy for diagnosis of staple line leak following bariatric surgery as well as spontaneous acute subdural hematoma of arterial origin mimicking epidural hematoma on computer tomograph.

WISH-TV’s Aleah Hordges spoke with Northwest Radiology’s Dr. Alan Engel and Carmel breast cancer survivor Michele Cohen about the importance of keeping that annual mammogram on your calendar.

Northwest Radiology Network welcomes Kristine Hatcher, D.O., who is subspecialized in breast imaging radiology.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Dr. Hatcher received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Ill. She completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Midwestern University in Olympia Fields, Ill.
She most recently served as a radiologist, partner and radiology director of the breast imaging center at The South Bend Clinic and Surgery Center in South Bend, Ind. Her primary emphasis was on breast imaging, with further focus on breast interventional, including stereotactic biopsies, ultrasound-guided biopsies and wire and seed localizations.
Dr. Hatcher is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology and a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and Society of Breast Imaging.
Dr. Alan Engel with Northwest Radiology told WRTV’s Nikki DeMentri the number of mammograms on his schedule has increased since March 2020, but his office is still 16% behind pre-COVID numbers. He and Northwest Radiology sonographer Katie Anderson stressed the importance of early detection and not skipping your mammogram appointment.
Northwest Radiology Network welcomes Paul Shu, M.D., who is subspecialized in neuroradiology.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science in natural sciences from the University of Akron in Ohio, Dr. Shu received his Doctor of Medicine from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown.
Dr. Shu completed a diagnostic radiology residency followed by a neuroradiology fellowship at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s The University Hospital.
Board certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Shu is a member of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and American Roentgen Ray Society and a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology.
Dr. Shu is an experienced radiologist who previously practiced with X-Ray Consultants, Inc. in South Bend, Ind. He also served as the chairman of the radiology department at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka and the vice-chairman of the radiology department at St. Joseph Health System in Mishawaka.
